Again, it is broken and again I need to spend R300 on repairing it. What is Vuka’s story? Do they sell these toys on the basis that constant repairs are a warranted necessity? Sure, it beats car hire in Cape Town (the prices for keeping a rental for lengthy periods of time are astronomical). A fully paid-off mode of transport is one of the greatest weapons in any man’s arsenal but perhaps I should get a bigger gun. I will be test-driving the Cherry QQ on Wednesday and with some luck, acquiring it before the month is over. You reach a certain point in your life when a car becomes an essential purchase and today is that day.

It is both a shame and a pity that I did not have my scooter this weekend. The heat was unbearable and a breezy ride on my Vuka would have undoubtedly cooled my fiery temperament, as it were. The temperature gauge indicated 29 degrees, but in the dark heart of Cape Town [Zonnebloem] it was more like 35 degrees. I left all the windows of my apartment open, switched the fan on and zoned out in the hope that less activity would lower my body temperature. I spent the entire weekend doing absolutely nothing, other than gaming that is. Summer is a cruel mistress, but her rewards [tanning, swimming and scooting] bear much fruit over the long months.

Relax, take it easy.

Today is the perfect day for a cape town tour. The sun is shining brightly and the clouds have all but vanished. This fact makes work a real chore, as I would prefer to be outside, catching up on my winter tan. I can see all the people outside who are improving their displays to fully maximize the new sunny weather. I have said this many times already but I am seriously looking forward to summer this year and I would love to take a helicopter trip around Cape Town with my girlfriend. I have been boarded up all winter and now it is time to break free.

My scooter was made for weather like this. I also need a few more new summer items to get this party started. New Havaianas, board shorts, sunblock for my vampire level tan and a keen new towel with a superhero graphic. My girlfriend is also an avid party queen and I will most likely be dragged into the craziest of times with her.

The Good and Bad points of Summer

Good:

  • Suntan
  • Woman wear next to nothing
  • No more rain to murder my scooter
  • Frozen Yogurt tastes better
  • I can wear shorts to the office
  • a Fresh breeze on a warm day
  • Swimming
  • Countless Braai’s with friends

Bad:

  • Fat Woman who wear next to nothing
  • 40 degree heat waves and being too tired to do anything
  • Sand in my shoes from the beach
  • having to exercise as my body has wilted in the winter months
