Cape Town Convention centre 5th Birthday bash
The Cape Town International Convention Centre celebrated their fifth birthday on Saturday 28 June 2008 and I attended it amongst a throng of local celebrities and politicians. There many live music acts ranging from classical performances and jazz to South Africa’s best live DJ’s such as Danny K, HHP, Judith Sephuma, Jimmy Dludlu and Watershed, as well as DJ’s Ready D, Roger Goode, Tyrone Paulsen and Craig de Sousa to name a few. All money raised for the event was donated to a local charity and judging by the turnout, those charities are going to be receiving a healthy injection of cash.
There were three VIP rooms for discerning guests invited to the party and I was amongst them. Food and drink was both excellent and extravagant, no expense was spared by the convention centre. Downstairs, the general food area was no slouch either! Mouth-watering beef prego rolls and other assorted delights were sold for next to nothing. Near the end of the evening, the constant flow of alcohol kept everyone very lively indeed and made the music much more enjoyable.
The Cape Town International Convention Centre has recently been voted the world’s best convention venue, even beating out New York and the UK. With incredible events like its 5th birthday party, it is easy to see why. No Cape Town tour would be complete without viewing this fantastic convention center.
